  • Triangle Spine & Back Care Center

Triangle Spine and Back Care Center

Triangle Spine and Back Care Center is an orthopedic spine practice in Raleigh, North Carolina. The practice had an existing site, but an overhaul was in order. Also, I wanted to write the CSS/XHTML from the ground up so I could do with the site what I wanted now, along with having room for it to grow. The practice strives on cutting edge medical procedures, so I wanted the site to be able to focus on that. Videos, testimonials and patient education are just phase one of this extensive site. It is built with enough flexibility to add features as time goes on.

Also, the practice has a wonderful logo, but the color scheme itself was challenging. I think this site reaches a compromise of soothing tones and professionalism reflecting the practice. By far, this is the most extensive and challenging of my sites to date, but one in which I have a great deal of pride in now and excitement for how it will grow.

  • Knott, Berger & Miller, LLP

    Knott, Berger & Miller, LLP

Knott, Berger & Miller, LLP is a litigation oriented law firm based in Raleigh, NC. The firm provides legal representation throughout the state of North Carolina.

Knott, Berger & Miller, LLP had an existing web site when they came to me requesting a new site design. They had some good content on their existing site, but they had too much content. We needed to pair the important information down so that potential clients could find what information they needed quickly. Our biggest focus was on the practice areas page. Not only did I need to make it more SEO friendly, but I had to provide better visual cues and an overall better user interface design.

Since the firm had no real established brand or identity I took to the warmer blues of North Carolina (based on the NC flag for the accenting colors) and incorporated the mountains of the state in the header and footer. Also some sharp visual imagery on the homepage helps to not only define the experience and overall richness that the firm conveys, but also helps stress completeness of the whole state of North Carolina representation we were striving for. I am very pleased by the way this project turned out and so is the client.

  • JRYAN

JRYAN - The Personal Web Site of John Ryan

I met John while living in DC, and can personally attest to his graphic design skill. He is very good, so when the chance came to work with John directly - even from his new home in CA - I jumped at the chance. For the past decade John was Vice President of the Creative Services department of Ketchum Public Relations garnering numerous awards and recognition. Now working solo, John is focusing on his three main passions: design, photography and music, and he wanted a personal/portfolio site to house his work.

This was a great project as it let me take all art direction from John. He knew exactly what he wanted, and I love the way his style comes through his site. Clean, crisp and it really showcases his work. This project allowed me to wrestle the code into a well thought out design. Sometimes it was challenging, but I really enjoyed doing it, and the best part really was working with such a creative talent like John.

  • TSG

    Technology Services Group

Technology Services Group is a full service provider of technology services focused on offering technology and web design solutions to businesses and personal enterprises in the greater Ohio Valley Area. My main focus with this site was to update the current web site, which utilized outdated frame sets. I was also trying to highlight the new scope of web services that the technology solutions provider was now supplying. So, the site had to tell new clients what TSG did, and to highlight the new web services with an attractive and easy to use site. I am very pleased with how the final product turned out.

    Technology Services Group - Postcard

This was a print piece that I did for Technology Services Group in Wheeling, WV. While print is not my main focus, I did undergo print training when getting my web/graphic design degree, so I am familiar with the basics required for a piece like a postcard. My favorite part of this project was that I was free to do whatever I wanted, as the goal of the project was to let existing and new clients of TSG know that they now had a full time web design department in the organization. I like the edgy copy I came up with to promote the new service, and I have heard feedback on the card that people actually stopped to look at it and read it- the goal of any direct mailing in general and this project specifically. I was very happy with the way this piece turned out. The print quality of the cards was top notch too, and the oversized postcard size really helped sell the idea.

  • Tony Congi

    Tony Congi, Musician

Tony Congi is a musician from upstate NY, who has been writing songs for worship and outreach for 35 years.

Tony had an existing site, but had some trouble with his online purchasing system. So I integrated a new, easy to use and easy to maintain shopping cart system for Tony, and I also changed his entire look and feel to not only reflect more of Tony’s personal style, but to take into account his audience as well. I also gave Tony several social media outlet connections for his fans and to increase his Search Engine Optimization/his SEO. In the future we may also consider a blog for Tony, so he can share his news and work directly. Once I build a site, I never consider myself removed from the project. As long as the client is interested, I continue to think on how to evolve the project.

  • Paull Associates

Paull Associates - Real Estate and Insurance

At Technology Services Group, I recently launched a new web site with Paull Associates, a Professional Real Estate Service that also offers Insurance.

Paull Associates had a long standing web site and web presence, but their old site lacked many common SEO conventions-especially those engines that specialize in Real Estate. The new site now showcases a Featured Listing right on the homepage, and I have included a New Listings area on the homepage and the site so that frequent visitors to the site may just watch those areas of interest. Also, each property now has a new Virtual Home Tour. Teamed with Google Mapping for each property, the new web site now has more interaction. I also linked Paull Associates up to Twitter so mobile users can get the latest Tweets, Open House listings and more right to their mobile device. Clean lines, clean pages and ease of finding information online were the paramount concerns addressed with the new site.

  • Klatt Law

    Klatt Law Offices

    W. Howard Klatt is a local Wheeling Attorney with over twenty years of legal experience. However, until now, Klatt Law did not have a web site.

Basically Klatt Law wanted a presence on the web with an informational web site to promote his practice and his services. I blended the new site with the warm, rich themes that Klatt had already with their logo and I made sure to include a touch of the actual wonderful building that houses Klatt Law. I worked on content to flesh out Klatt's Search Engine Optimization and to make them show up in the Google Map feature listing. Like other local businesses, simplicity for the client was very important with their first online presence. Clean, easy to find information, an easy to use contact form for potential clients, and an up to date bio of the practice are the main features of this new site.

  • Christina DeAntonis

Christina DeAntonis - Costume Designer and Wardrobe Stylist

Working as the Senior Web Designer with Technology Services Group, this site was done for a client in West Hollywood, CA. After some very productive phone calls with the client in CA, I was looking to portray her sense of fun and her love of the industry, yet also portray her very serious devotion to her work. Christina is using this site to focus and showcase her wardrobe and styling skills, but she is also a costume designer, so the sense of fun came into play with the use of graphic materials such as fabric that I used all throughout the site. I also set the client up on various social networking sites to more easily connect with her clients and potential clients in CA. The JS photo gallery was a visually pleasing way to showcase her work, and still retain the theme of photos, styling, and fashion design she was looking for. Although a small site, I was very pleased with the look and feel of this design & the client loved it as well.

  • VNGAS

    Valley National Gases

VNG is a premier supplier of Industrial, Specialty and Medical Gases, Welding and Safety Supplies. VNG had a previous web site, but not only was it dated, it used outmoded coding conventions. At first blush, this may not impact the general user to the site, but the mess of VNG's back end code had a direct impact on how Valley showed in search rankings. For a company where press releases and news was important to find, this was a big obstacle that had to be overcome.

With the site redesign, I also added a lot of interactivity to the site, and cleaned up the site's information architecture so the wealth of information that is on this rather big corporate site is now easy to find and manage. Another function of this site is that the client always comes to us with new ideas and features they want to add. Because I built this site with the idea of progressive enhancement in mind, none of these ideas has been hard to implement. If they can think it up, it can be done.

  • WASA

    Wheeling Area Soccer Association

At TSG, I built two sites for the local soccer association WASA. The interface had to be something to appeal to its younger playing audience, and I also needed a high level of interactivity for this group and social networking was a must. However, the client also wanted to be able to directly add content to the site, so I built this entire site on top of a Content Management System (a CMS) that they may manage their day to day updates with.

After much research into what the client really needed out of a CMS, I decided to go with WordPress, even though a smaller percentage of this site will feature blog-like functionality. In order to customize it as a CMS for them, I had to do a lot of back-end manipulation, including extensive and varying permissions, and two separate blog/areas, not one, to be added to their CMS within each site.

  • DR Power

    DR® Power Equipment

Based in Vermont since 1985, DR® Power Equipment has been manufacturing and selling tools that make outdoor work easier. In the last few years, the DR® web site has grown in scope and the ability for customers to purchase these large machines (and large ticket items) online. My main focus was to build the customer support area of the web site from the ground up, as well as helpful ways to maintain them through an online interface. The use of online manuals and product "tips" was one such example of bringing online customer service to this site.

  • Green Mountain

    The Green Mountain Club

The Green Mountain Club of Vermont and its 9500 plus members from across the country share a love for hiking and a commitment to preserving and protecting the Long Trail System. There are many ways to help the GMC in its mission to maintain and protect the Long Trail. The most basic way to help is to become a GMC volunteer, which included this work I did for their existing web site in helping to update the site and work on the redesign of the storefront.

  • First Class

    First Class Limousine

Working as the Senior Web Designer with Technology Services Group, this is one of the first sites to launch at the company with a complete makeover. After meeting with the client, I was striving to produce a clean, easy to use site, to market the rental of high end limousines. The client did not want any online booking functionality, rather they were striving for an elegant, simple site to reflect the tastes of their clientele. They were looking for a good marketing "hook" that would entice their audience to rent one of their vehicles, or to use their service for hire via the Pittsburgh International Airport - a staple of their business.

  • The Loft

    The Loft

The Loft is an upscale bed & breakfast in Taupo, New Zealand in the heart of the North Island which I have stayed in several times. Peter & Grace had an existing site, but wanted it out of its user-unfriendly setup of frames. They also needed some "freshening up" and a secure online booking form. The navigation utilizes flash, but all in all, they wanted a simple site that conveyed the charm and at home feeling of their establishment, and just needed me to run some basic maintenance on their existing site.

  • Wiley Dobbs

    Wiley Dobbs

Wiley Dobbs was a four member band out of Albany NY, & the guys were looking for a web site that reflected their style of music-an inspired fusion of bluegrass, jazz, and original. There was a concerted effort to merge the folk-ish element of the band, and to retain the unique spirit of the band. Audio was used on the site to help promote their many local performances. The guys haven't updated their site for a while, but I fondly keep it in my portfolio because their music is that good!
